Spring 2018 President's Message

Chetta Sinclair, Cushman & Wakefiled
2018 BOMA Sacramento Board President

Thank you for your continued membership and support of BOMA Sacramento in 2018.  We have planned an exciting schedule of events for this year and look forward to seeing all of you at the events.   We will also continue our mission to promote the highest professional standards for the industry by providing resources, education, business relationship opportunities, legislative and regulatory representation for the commercial real estate industry.

In 2017, BOMA Sacramento engaged with California State Legislators about hundreds of pieces of legislation at the State level.  At the beginning of 2018, we continued the efforts by engaging with Senators and House Members at the Federal level.  We have met with many California Assembly Members and Senators to voice our positions on various bills throughout the last thirteen (13) months.  We had great success on some key issues, including support of ADA lawsuit reform at the Federal level, stalling a bill designed to ban dual agency, and stopping efforts to advance split roll property tax.  While BOMA’s engagement helps to protect commercial real estate interests, it is an ongoing effort as some legislative bills return with simple changes and the challenge starts all over.  BOMA Sacramento will continue to put forth the effort to support and protect the commercial real estate industry.  We will step up our contributions to BOMA California through additional fund raising efforts in 2018 to help support BOMA California’s legislative and regulatory advocacy.   We encourage each of you in the organization to join us in the efforts to protect the commercial real estate industry.

BOMA Sacramento prides itself on making our members better professionals through the advocacy, networking and educational opportunities we provide to our building owners, developers, property managers, leasing professionals, facilities managers and vendors. Our members benefit from interaction at social events such as our annual golf tournament, vendor showcase, finding industry information at monthly luncheons, special events and having access to our educational programs, seminars and publications.

Our charitable organization for 2018 is the Alzheimer’s Association.  The Alzheimer’s Association is the leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer’s care, support, and research.  The Alzheimer’s Association strives to eliminate Alzheimer’s disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health. BOMA Sacramento is excited to support the Alzheimer’s Association and do our part to help them achieve their vision of a world without Alzheimer’s.

Please mark your calendar for the Taste of the Town on March 15th, and our next luncheon on April 19th.  We encourage you to visit for more information on educational opportunities, luncheons and special events we have planned for you in 2018.  Again, thank you for your continued membership, we look forward to seeing each of you at the next event.
